Dachser creates 1,700 more skilled, executive jobs worldwide in 2011

DACHSER has announced the creation of 1,700 new jobs over the course of 2011, bringing the company's total number of employees to 21,000.

Bernhard Simon, head of the company's management board, said the increase in jobs is spread across skilled specialists and executives, as well as a number of operational positions.

"While everyone is talking these days about the shortage of skilled specialists and executives, we are finding it increasingly difficult to fill vacant operational positions," said Mr Simon.

The company offers staff initial and advanced training, also in the lower collectively agreed wage brackets. In logistics, the company said there is also a shortage of truck drivers, and as a result, it intends to "significantly intensify" its driver training and recruiting initiatives in the coming year.

It is planning to create further new jobs this year despite the weakening economic environment. "The mission to recruit and retain qualified people is part of our long-term strategic orientation," Mr Simon said.
